Completed Fragments | ||
From June 24th through July 5th, 2002, Esther Böhm, the German-Canadian artist, presented works in marble and acryllic at her Munich studio. For the first time, a German audience was able to take a closer look at her art.
The process of perception reveals itself naturally in the paintings and sculptures of Esther Böhm. Her style and her identity are intrinsically woven into a dialogue with surfaces, contours, colours, with the theme of "painting". Through the dynamics of line and colour, surfaces are transformed into multiple fields of tension which encompass space. Esther Böhm's paintings are multi- and micro-spatially arranged, seem to fluctuate, to float over luminous surfaces of colour. The surfaces themselves, physically restricted, give the illusion of being without restriction. Her sculptures, also, display objects, contours in a precarious balance between entity and illusion, and they refer to nothing less than the creative process itself.
It is up to the observer to complete the presented fragments with his or her own sense of perception.
